Mental Health Issues Rising Significantly Among Young Adults

As part of 2022’s May Mental Health Awareness Month, organizations from MTV to the US government are sponsoring initiatives to promote awareness, education, and action related to mental health.

For the second year, MTV is sponsoring Mental Health Action Day on May 19 as part of its ongoing efforts to promote mental health awareness

The Percentage of Young Adults Reporting Mental Health Issues Far Outpaces Other Demographic Groups

MTVs involvement comes at a time when the incidence of mental health issues among young adults is rising significantly, according to data compiled from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health estimates. According to SAMHSA, almost one in three young adults aged 18-25 reported having mental health issues in 2020, the most recent survey data available. Since 2014, the percent of young adults reporting issues has grown much faster than that of older demographic groups.
